Mitigation Site Construction and Revegetation
VES has effectively managed the construction of large-scale aquatic resource projects for master-planned subdivision developments and resorts in Bozeman, Belgrade, Big Sky, and West Yellowstone, Montana. Mitigation projects have encompassed the restoration of functionally impaired streams, creation of wetlands for waterfowl use, establishment of lakes for recreational uses, and enhancement of riparian vegetation corridors. New and return clients have commended the company’s ability to successfully supervise project budgets, timelines, permits, and teams.
Establishing a dense and beneficial vegetation cover by selecting plant species adapted to a site’s hydrology and climate is key to the biological integrity and visual impact of a mitigation project. VES focuses on creating structurally diverse wetland and riparian systems that simulate the natural environment by using native plant materials such as transplanted wetland sod mats, salvaged willow cuttings, wetland tubelings, containerized trees and shrubs, and customized seed mixes. Our revegetation designs incorporate the existing resource characteristics into the plant material selection, planting plans and methods, short- and long-term maintenance, and weed management.
