Yellowstone Ranch Preserve, Hebgen Lake, Montana
The Yellowstone Ranch Preserve encompasses 1000 acres of terrain rising from the shores of Hebgen Lake to forested hillsides located ten miles north of West Yellowstone, Montana. The preserve established six lots with one-acre building envelopes surrounded by land protected in a conservation easement administered by the Gallatin Valley Land Trust. A canal and boat dock built 20 to 30 years ago at the edge of Hebgen Lake was reconstructed to provide a new access point and to allow restoration of the shoreline to wetland habitat. VES implemented the Restoration Plan using seed and wetland sod salvaged from onsite sources to propagate native species. Three years of vegetation monitoring data have been detailed in annual monitoring reports.
